The Queensland deadline
Interconnected photoelectric alarms have been required since 2022 for rentals and homes sold.
Under the Building Fire Safety (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Legislation Amendment Regulation 2016, all Queensland owner-occupied homes must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed by 1 January 2027. Rentals and homes sold or leased have already needed to comply since 2022.
